Project Bogota Colombia

August 15 - August 22, 2017

Illuminate Foundation partnered with Emerging Voices (an affiliate program with International Volunteer HQ) to assist with poverty-stricken communities in Bogota, Colombia. We worked with organizations such as Hogar de Christo- Abuelitas which assists ladies who have been abandoned by their family members and left on the streets. We also volunteered our time with Hogar Madre Theresa which is a local soup kitchen that prepares meals and groceries for families and individuals in need.

The majority of our efforts focused around the Mama Yolanda Foundation which is an organization that offers care and protection to children and adolescents who have experienced abandonment, consumption of psychoactive substances, victims of physical/sexual abuse and other vulnerabilities. We organized Illuminate bags filled with over 1,00 items including hygiene kits, clothing, and craft goods for the kids. We were honored to be a part of this incredible program that is working to repair the disruption and chaos that has been such a large part of these children’s lives.

Below are pictures of our efforts with the Mama Yolanda Foundation. The video above shows our efforts throughout Project Bogota, Colombia- 2017.
